  The Isotopic Laboratory with the functions of radionuclide diagnostics is equipped with a two-detector gamma camera "Forte" from PHILIPS company, which allows to conduct research in dynamic, static, synchronized mode, as well as in single-photon emission computed tomography. Combined with a gamma camera workstation "JETStream" is a package of programs for the collection and processing of data from various organs and systems.

  Examinations are conducted only with referral or with written recommendation of the doctors of health facilities in both: the city of Minsk and the Republic of Belarus.

  For the examination is used the short-lived isotope Technetium-99m with a half-life of 6 hours.The radiation exposure during the examination is several times smaller than in radiographic studies comparable in volume.

  All the rooms of the Department where work is being done with sources of ionizing radiation(SIR) are equipped with protective equipment of the Canberra Paccard company, which includes radiological boxs, containers for transportation and storage of SIR, a dose detector for determining the activity of the radiopharmaceutical, monitors for radionuclide contamination and dosimeters for monitoring the radiation situation.

  The Isotopic Laboratory of the Center is the only laboratory in the country that conducts diagnostic examinations in two shifts. Twenty scintigraphic procedures are carried out in the department.

  Currently, the Department carries out the following scintigraphic studies: 

  • Osteoscintigraphy is the examination of the osteoarticular system in order to identify the centers of metastatic lesion, malignant tumors, inflammatory processes and degenerative-dystrophic changes.
  • Three-phase osteoscintigraphy for diagnosis of osteomyelitis.
  • Three-phase osteoscintigraphy for the diagnosis of septic instability of hip and knee joint prostheses (this technique is performed only in our laboratory).
  • Single-photon emission computerized tomography of bone (SPECT).
  • Dynamic nephroscintigraphy for evaluation of kidney transplant function, diagnosis of inflammatory kidney disease, kidney stone disease, polycystic kidney disease, renal hydronephrosis, etc.
  • Dynamic nephroscintigraphy with lasix (diuretic test) - obstructive urodynamic disorders. Dynamic nephroscintigraphy with captopril prophylaxis to exclude reninvascular hypertension.
  • Determination of the glomerular filtration rate is carried out with suspicion of glomerulonephritis, pyelonephritis, with a change in the biochemical analysis of blood creatinine and urea.
  • Measurement of the volume of residual urine in the diagnosis of diffuse prostatic hyperplasia, acute and chronic cystitis, neurogenic bladder.
  • Angioscintigraphy.
  • Static nephroscintigraphy with SPECT - clarification of anatomical and topographic features of the kidneys, congenital anomalies of the genitourinary system and revealing structural changes in the renal parenchyma: scars, inflammatory foci.
  • Dynamic liver scintigraphy - assessment of liver function, gallbladder, bile ducts, functioning of the sphincter of Oddi
  • thyroscintigraphy is used to determine the anatomical and topographic features of the thyroid gland.For the diagnosis of multinodal pathology and for the exclusion of toxic adenoma of the thyroid gland.
  • Scintigraphy of parathyroid glands,  SPECT of parathyroid glands.
  • Perfusion lung scintigraphy for the diagnosis of pulmonary embolism.
  • Lymphoscintigraphy. Perfusion scintigraphy of the myocardium at rest.
  • Perfusion scintigraphy of myocardium with pharmacological load (dipyridamole test) by SPECT.
